One of the most important collections of Etruscan art in the world. The museum collects the best excavations made in Tuscany. Important Etruscan and Roman finds are displayed together with some masterpieces of funeral sculptures such as Etruscan urns and sarcophagi, the large bronze statues of the Chimera and of the Arringatore. Also important is the Egyptian section, which in Italy is second only to Turin´s Egyptian Museum. The museum is housed in the Palazzo della Crocetta, built for Mary Magdalene de Medici, sister of Cosimo II.
