It represents the latest Florentine example of a public collection formed between the seventeenth and the eightteenth centuries. The museum is full of masterpieces such as the Adoration of the Child, by Piero di Cosimo, the two wedding panels by Beccafumi, the beautiful paintings by Salvator Rosa and Luca Giordano, but also objects, furniture, tapestries and antique decorations. A fascinating chest that still today contains important but hardly known works, Palazzo Martelli discloses to the public the “village” rooms on the ground floor, the elegant staircase, the beautiful collection of paintings with the rooms of the main floor, the red and yellow salons, the chapel and the ballroom. The “house”, restructured according to the fashion of those times to create a circular route and make the collection more enjoyable to the guestsvisitors, is close to Piazza del Duomo, on the ancient Via della Forca.
