Firenze Déco. Atmospheres of the 1920s
The exhibition aims to highlight and introduce the general public to the city of Florence's central role in the spread of Art Deco throughout Italy and Europe, recounting a decade of extraordinary creative ferment, during which Florence established itself as a refined laboratory of applied arts, fashion, design, theater, and decorative arts.
On display are ceramics, glass, furniture, jewelry, fabrics, clothing, posters, and stage costumes, reconstructing the cultural climate of the 1920s, establishing a dialogue between artists and manufacturers who contributed to the renewal of decorative language, with an open eye to avant-garde movements and international taste.
Along the exhibition, visitors can admire diverse artists and experiences: from Gio Ponti's contribution to Richard-Ginori to the works by Galileo Chini, from Thayaht to the jewelry sought after by international high society, and the magnificent silks prized by D'Annunzio.
Also on display are visually striking advertising posters and productions related to the world of entertainment, offering a broad, non-local interpretation of Florentine Art Deco, highlighting its national and international significance.
The exhibition is an immersive journey into the atmosphere of an era that has left a lasting mark on the city's modern identity, an opportunity to look at Florence through different eyes.
