OltreCittà. Utopias and reality. From Le Corbusier to Gerhard Richter.

The exhibition focuses on the theme of the city, which is the protagonist of a journey never attempted in art: 126 works of painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, video and music by artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.
An intense experiential journey that tells of desired, utopian cities, metropolises and urban landscapes imagined by artists through multiple representations.
The exhibition is a reflection on the macro-theme of cities, not proposing an ideal and future vision of urban centers but giving us ample space to still conceive it on a human scale.
The aim of the exhibition is to project the visitor on an experiential journey entrusted to works of various declinations, so as to become the protagonist and spectator at the same time of artists' visions, an engaging inside-outside which leads the visitor to question himself on the very human theme of the city, stimulated by the location, Villa Bardini, which offers a unique and extraordinary view of Florence, still today the emblem of the ideal city.
On display for the first time in an exhibition is the work Firenze III/XII by Gerhard Richter, today one of the most influential artists internationally, which translates the idea of the movement and dynamism of a city - Florence - which dematerialises under the our eyes, as if we were observing it from the window of a train, to become something else.
