Museo della Misericordia di Firenze

The Museum of the Misericordia in Florence offers visitors opportunities to learn about the charitable institution’s history from 1244 to the present day: from assistance to prisoners to the transport of sick and accident victims to city hospitals, from the management of lazaretti to providing dowries for impoverished girls so that they could marry or enter a convent. Its 14 rooms houses a rich collection with over eighty pieces (many of which have been specially restored for the museum) including manuscripts, paintings, coats of arms, furnishings, objects and artifacts of Florentine craftsmanship, as well as a sixteenth century copy of the Archconfraternity Statute.
