VELVET MI AMOR
On occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Prato Textile Museum, the exhibition “Velvet mi amor” celebrates the contemporary innovations of one of the most beloved fabrics in the world: velvet.
The Prato Textile Museum celebrates this textile material, thus continuing the celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of its opening, a few months after the inauguration of the exhibition “Silk Treasures. Textile masterpieces from the Falletti donation”.
Velvet, due to its shine and the complexity of its workmanship, is one of the most precious fabrics, used for the most exclusive clothes since the Renaissance.
With an installation of 24 anthropomorphic figures made entirely of velvet and never before exhibited in a museum, the exhibition tells the story of the experimentation of contemporary creative language in fashion.
The 24 characters are the result of the creative imagination and research of designers Stefano Chiassai and Corinna Chiassai, specialized in creative consultancy for men's and women's fashion brands at a national and international level. Entirely made of velvet, the figures are characterised by alien shapes and futuristic looks, which explore the potential of the material.
