Ferragamo is a famous Florentine fashion brand whose company history is commemorated at the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum that opened in 1995 in the company’s historic headquarters on via Tornabuoni. The idea for the museum initially came about when an exhibition was organised at Palazzo Strozzi on the history of the founder, “shoemaker to the stars” Salvatore Ferragamo. That exhibition travelled to some of the world’s most prestigious museums, such as the Victoria and Albert in London, the County Museum of Los Angeles, the New York Guggenheim, the Sogetsu Kai Foundation in Tokyo, and the Museo de Bellas Artes in Mexico.

Finding a permanent home, the special exhibitions organized here explore various themes related to Salvatore Ferragamo, his life story, creations, customers he served and values he believed in, as well as other members of the family. Themes of workmanship and innovation are explored, as well as spheres like art, architecture, design, economic and social history, philosophy and anatomy.
